9th Circuit Judges Michelle Friedland, William Canby Jr., and Richard Clifton made a major gamble with American lives last night. They ruled against the President and appear to have rewritten the Immigration and Nationality Act, which states: “Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.”
I’m not sure that I have read a more plainly stated law. According to the three judges on the left-leaning 9th Circuit, it means something entirely different than what it says. Until the Supreme Court weighs in, their interpretation is now the new law of the land. What does it mean now? No one really knows.
The judicial branch has hijacked the federal government. Voters know it as well, as Supreme Court nominees were a major campaign issue. The SCOTUS was already a man down, and Ginsburg can barely stay awake anymore. Those who reluctantly voted for Trump routinely cited court appointments as their number one issue because they know that is where the power lies. Activist judges are using precedent to rewrite laws they don’t care for, and it has drastically altered our system of checks and balances. I can’t even offer an idea on how to fix it, the horse has already jumped the fence.
I’m a religious person. I pray for the safety of our country regularly. Last night I prayed for those judges on the 9th Circuit that took a chance with my, my wife’s, my families’, and your safety. Since the ban was halted, around 800 people have flooded into the United States from countries that were travel restricted, one-third of those being Syrians, and another 21 percent from Iraq. Both have a significant portion of their territory controlled by ISIS. After yesterday, hundreds more will be on their way to a town near you. If just 1% of those admitted are bad actors who exploited this judge-sized hole in our security, we could see a lot of carnage in a few weeks or months. The blood will be on the hands of those behind the bench. My prayer was that they won’t have to live with that on their conscience.
